Genre: Rock

Digitally remastered edition. Although he was an extremely successful writer for other artists (penning 'He's A Rebel' for The Crystals, 'Hello Mary Lou' for Ricky Nelson and 'Rubber Ball' for Bobby Vee), Gene Pitney is chiefly remembered as one of the best interpreters of Burt Bacharach's material. Indeed, he is spoken of in the same revered tones as Dionne Warwick for his abilities to bring that repertoire to life. Only Love Can Break A Heart is the perfect example of this, giving rise to two Top Ten hits as well as three other charting singles, an extremely good return for a twelve track album! Key tracks on this set therefore the title track and '(The Man Who Shot) Liberty Valance', both of which made the upper reaches of the chart.
