In October 2011, he was the chosen guest soloist in Caracas Venezuela, with the Orquesta Simon Bolivar in a performance of the Pied Piper Fantasy by John Corigliano, in presence of the composer. Gaspar Hoyos has been praised by conductors, colleagues and critics alike as one of the most exciting and interesting flutist of his generation. Recipient of many prestigious awards including international competitions, he has performed to critical acclaim throughout South America, North America, Europe and the Far East. He has earned prizes at such prestigious international competitions as the Jean-Pierre Rampal Competition, Markneukirchen International Competition and the NFA Young Artist Competition, prizes which led to his solo debut in Europe with the Ensemble Orchestral de Paris at the Theatre des Champs Elysées. Gaspar currently divides his attention between concerto appearances, solo recitals, chamber music projects and collaborating with the New Music Ensemble Ultim'asonata in visual and performing arts in multicultural projects. Mr. Hoyos has appeared as soloist with such ensembles as the Ensemble Orchestral de Paris, Orchestre Symphonique de Nancy, Ensemble La Follia, Orchestre de chambre de Lorraine, Orchestras of Vogtland and Markneukirchen, Orquestas filarmónicas de Bogotá y Lima, New Mexico Symphony Orchestra, San Angelo Symphony Orchestra. He was invited to join the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra in their China-Taiwan tour, and has played with the orchestras of Mulhouse and the Opéra de Lyon. He has played in such prestigious festivals as Nancyphonies, Montpellier Radio-France, Musica Riva (Italy), Festival of Istria, July in Jordan Hall (Boston), Maurice Ravel (France). He is frequent guest at the Flute Festivals around the world, such as the European Flute Festival (Frankfurt), Japan Flute Convention (Kobe), French Flute Convention (Paris), Festival de Flauta de Lima (Peru), National Flute Association Flute Conventions (USA). His solo discography includes the 19th Century music record Bravissimo, for the label Octavia Records (Japan), a CD made in Bogota, celebrating Twentieth Century Masterpieces by French and Colombian composers, and 'Absinthe' (Fleur de Son) Gaspar Hoyos was raised in Bogota, Colombia. He studied in Boston with Paula Robison, and in Paris with Raymond Guiot. He was the last flutist to have had the chance to take lessons with the late Jean-Pierre Rampal at his home, avenue Mozart, Paris.
