Genre: Rock

2015 album from the legendary Dance/Pop vocalist best known for fronting Bronski Beat and The Commundards. The euphoric joy of disco has been one consistent thread, which has run through the diverse, illustrious 30-year career of pop legend Jimmy Somerville. Homage, as the title suggests, pays homage to the disco era. The emphasis throughout the recording of the new album has been on achieving the musical authenticity of the original disco era he loves so much. In the 80's and 90's, Jimmy Somerville was a trailblazer in being openly gay during a period of increasing sociopolitical debate and conflict regarding lesbian and gay rights. His songs reflected this, often containing political commentary for the disenfranchised.
