Description

Artist: Nikolaus Harnoncourt
Title: March in D Major K 335 / Serenade in D Major K 320
Product Type: COMPACT DISCS

Marking the 60th anniversary of their collaboration, legendary conductor Nikolaus Harnoncourt and the Vienna Concentus Musicus, the orchestra he founded 1953, release their first recording of the much-loved Mozart Post horn Serenade. The album also includes two other Mozart pieces, March in D Major and the Haffner Symphony. This is the first time that these important works of Mozart's middle period have been recorded with a period-instrument orchestra. The Post horn Serenade's many movements vary widely in character, from symphonic to light dance music, which gives Harnoncourt the perfect opportunity to develop Klangrede, or musical dialogue, for which he is well-known. With his subtly differentiated Mozart style, Harnoncourt manages to discover new details even in such familiar pieces of music.
