Living reggae heroes Toots and the Maytals unveil their first ever acoustic album this summer through Metropolis Recordings to coincide with the 50th anniversary of Jamaican Independence Day. Grammy-« award-winning Toots Hibbert was the first to use the word 'reggae' on tape in his 1968 classic 'Do the Reggay' and over the last six decades has defined and redefined the sound. With his latest release 'Unplugged on Strawberry Hill' the legend continues. This is Toots and the Maytals' first ever recorded acoustic set performed at Island Records founder Chris Blackwell's property overlooking Kingston. The album includes a bonus DVD documentary ('Reggae Got Soul') featuring rare live footage from Toots' unforgettable performance at Rockpalast in 1981 and special liner notes contributed by Grace Jones. The album was recorded at sunset with the Blue Mountains providing the stunning backdrop.
