Challenge Your Idea Of Music With Anni Spadafora Of New Fries On Tower's Live Show

The experimental band New Fries have a new album out, and Anni Spadafora joined us on our Tower Live Instagram, hosted by Whitney Moore, to talk about it, as well as the band's ethos.

Calling in from Toronto, Spadafora introduced us to the LP Is The Idea of Us, which arrived on vinyl on September 25th. The band started "restructuring" their approach to music in 2018, but are still on the path of intentionally "contradicting" themselves to challenge ideas behind music and musical performance. For instance, Spadafora and other band members prefer not to call themselves "musicians" because this is more freeing to allow for their involvement in other art forms. She also does not keep her bass at home or practice on it there, but only plays in the context of the band.
