Chelsea Williams Talks Chris Cornell & The Palomino Sound Sessions On Tower's Live Show
Singer/songwriter Chelsea Williams joined our Tower Instagram Live show to talk to host Dani Pinkus about the many projects and releases she's been working on lately, including her cover of "Like a Stone" on the Chris Cornell tribute album We Are The Highway, out now from Blue Elan, and on her acoustic EP out November 13th, The Palomino Sound Sessions. There was also plenty of love for her May 2020 album, Beautiful & Strange and how the ideas on that album apply to all our lives right now.
The Palomino Sound Sessions includes acoustic versions of songs from Beautiful & Strange, including "Beautiful and Strange", "Wasted", and "Red Flag" and Williams discusses each of those songs as well as telling her story of seeing Chris Cornell perform live and how much that meant to her.
Williams also tells the astonishing story of street performing and meeting Blue Elan's Kirk Pasich who asked her to contact him about making records, saying "I want you to make the record of your dreams." At first, she didn't believe him and thought he was just being nice, but he assured her that she should contact him, and now she has a wide-ranging relationship with Blue Elan. That was definitely a "pinch me" moment for her.
Williams had a number of experiences pursuing her musical goals in bands, but she feels that her earlier dream of working with a "big label" doesn't really sync with her broader goal these days of making sure she can pursue her own creative vision, and she feels working with Blue Elan helps her do that.
