Explore Comedy & Social Commentary In Music With Rachel Lark On Tower's Live Show
Rachel Lark's powerful new EP, Sex and Balances, landed on September 25th, and she joined us on our Tower Instagram Live show that very day to give us an insider view of her life and work.
Host Whitney Moore explored many of the social and political issues of the day and recent history with Lark in the context of her music, many of which you'll also see in the themes of Lark's EP, often expressed with a comedic sense of irony. Lark explains that her move into more comedically-flavored songs as a form of social commentary happened partly by accident when she was invited to take part in a live show and needed a song about sex to perform.
With the audience giving a very strong reaction and interest in her "silly" song, she became aware that she should continue to develop this avenue in music. From that starting point, Lark has gone on to forge her uniquely effective vision and approach to being a singer/songwriter.
