My Morning Jacket Releases 7" Record To Benefit 'Fair Fight' For Voting Rights
Yesterday, on Voter Registration day, My Morning Jacket announced the release of a 7" single that will benefit the Voting Rights Organization Fair Fight.
The record features the brand new single, "Bright the Power Back Home" and b/w "Bring the Power Back Home (Acoustic)".
The 7”, limited to 2,020 copies, is available at a special “Pay What You Can” price ranging from $10.00 to $25.00. As mentioned above, all proceeds from this release will benefit Fair Fight, the voter participation advocacy group founded by Stacey Abrams.
My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James explains the release:
“’Bring The Power Back Home’ is about taking control of your own destiny, reclaiming one's personal power in an effort to bring positive change back to our lives, even if it seems that the good in the world is slipping out of our grasp. Positive change and progress is still possible. One of the best ways we can reclaim and use our power for good right now is to VOTE like our lives depend on it, because they do.”
In other MMJ news, the band’s 2011 Bonnaroo set will be a featured segment this coming weekend during the legendary festival’s Virtual ROO-ALITY livestream, September 24 – 28. Catch their performance on Saturday at 11pm Central Time.
