Support The Los Angeles Food Bank with Olympia Dukakis Biopic Soundtrack
Director Harry Mavromichalis and composer Paul Cantelon (The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, W, The Other Boleyn Girl, The Visit) have decided to release the soundtrack to Olympia on Bandcamp, in support of the Los Angeles Food Bank.
The film had a premier virtually on July 10th, but you can find information about further screenings here.
After a chance meeting at an Angela McCluskey concert (who is Paul Cantelon’s wife), Mavromichalis asked Cantelon if he would be interested in scoring a film he was planning on the life of the Academy Award-winning actor Olympia Dukakis.
Inspired by Cantelon’s decision this year to donate the proceeds from his album’s sales to the Los Angeles Food Bank, the producers of the film agreed to release the soundtrack in the hopes it might raise extra funds for the cause.
Here's an overview of what you'll find in the film itself and the trailer:
"Olympia, the film, takes us on a poetic journey in search of one’s place in the world. This intimate and luminary fly-on-the-wall documentary tells a poignant story of a woman finding her own voice on her own terms. Exhibiting both candor and vulnerability, we see Olympia deal with age, grief, and sexuality while opening up about her past struggles with depression and drug addiction. Through her brutal honesty and sincerity, Olympia compels us to confront our own shortcomings and differences by letting go, and moving forward with a defiant conviction."
