I'm Only Sleeping is the latest album from Grammy Award winning violinist Ron Levine. It is a collection of instrumental arrangements of The Beatles, Bernstein (West Side Story) and Beauty and the Beast. Ron's Grammy Award was for playing fiddle on Orange Blossom Special/Hoedown on the Urban Cowboy soundtrack album. My connection between Leonard Bernstein and the Beatles was formed when I was very young. I was watching the New York Philharmonic perform their weekly youth concert where Leonard Bernstein, who was the conductor at the time, gave a short lecture prior to the performance. Instead of discussing classical composers, the topic of his lecture was the music of The Beatles. Mr. Bernstein praised their originality, use of complex harmonies and unique chord progressions that set them apart from other rock and roll bands of their time. At that moment, I realized I had the upper hand in convincing my father that Rock 'n' Roll was music. Ron Levine arranged all of the music on the album and plays the violin, mandolin and guitar. Ron is also the engineer and producer of all the songs.
