This is the EP that Stellan Wahlstrom Drift Band released in 2001 between the albums 'Time leaves you behind' and 'The excitable gift', now finally available from CD Baby and in digital form. The title track is a fierce rock song with lots of garagey guitars that hint of Stellan Wahlstrom's background in the garage rock band The Wylde Mammoths (Crypt Records). The EP closes with the live favorite, not least during tours in India, 'An Old Monk in an Ambassador in the rain', written while at the rainiest place on earth - Cherrapunjee in north eastern India. It's a story that involves Old Monk (a tasty liquor), an Ambassador (a bulky car), and lots and lots of rain. The recording was later made in an old cottage by a lake in Sweden, using a harmonium found in Varanasi. Other tracks on this EP are the Petty-esque 'Don't be a stranger' and the New York street drama 'Silence'. Mastered in ABBA's now defunct Polar Studio in Stockholm. PRESS about 'Time leaves you behind': 'A very strong band performing some amazing music. Wahlstrom is a songwriter of the Townes Van Zandt/Bob Dylan school - not that his work sounds anything like either of those artists, but he has the same confidence in his storytelling' // The Big Takeover (USA) 'True feelings and authenticity...Might come to mean a lot to many people' // Upsala Nya Tidning (Sweden) 'Stellan is succeeding well with the down to earth melancholy' // Ett Noll Ett (Sweden) 'Definitely honest' (7,5/10) // Ici Magazine (Canada) 'Some of the intensity from which great albums are made' // Realmusic (Germany)'
