Brian McGuire is an original in the singer/songwriter tradition. As a constant presence on the Dublin music scene since the mid 70s he was a precursor of the country music boom and the revival of interest in country and western music as a vehicle for songs of musical bite and relevance for modern living. Evolving out of the folk club circuit, Brian formed the country rock band THE FASHIONS, releasing the single "All I own in Dublin are the Bars". Operating on the guerrilla fringes of the music industry he occasionally surfaces on television and radio, most recently with the radio hit "Vodka and Solpadeine", and performs both solo and with a floating ensemble of musicians around Dublin and environs. His songs have a unique flavour, involving articulate, well crafted lyrics, sharp, well observed humour and accessible, melodic musical form.
