Allan Macleod, lead & harmony vocals, guitar, & mandolin. Dick Holdstock, lead & harmony vocals, guitar, & mandolin. With Cait Reed Fiddle, David Rosen keyboard A composite album from two earlier recordings from Holdstock and Macleod featuring traditional and contemporary British folksongs. All songs recorded in 1985 and 1990 by Neil Jay. Young at Canyon Studios Canyon California Cover photograph by Art Wolfe Seattle Washington. Above photo by Terry Turner Davis California Allan Macleod and Dick Holdstock have performed together for more than twenty five years. Their performances reflect the rapport and Polish that two performers can achieve only after working together for a good many years. Everyone can tell they truly enjoy performing together. An evening of music, Holdstock and Macleod style, is filled with the richness of the music of their Scottish and English roots. The songs they sing tell more clearly than any history book what the people were thinking and feeling at the time. Whether they are singing of the beauties of the countryside or the horrors of war, Holdstock and Macleod are able to totally involve their audiences with the experience. They have perfected the knack of achieving audience participation and manage to get the audience to sing along wherever they perform. Their act is tight, their guitar, and mandolin accompaniments are sparkling and their stories are outrageous. They are especially expert in the performance of sea songs and shanties, but they have wide experience presenting stimulating workshops on all kinds of British traditional music.
