It could only happen in Detroit. It was in the ashes of this Detroit that Tribe Records was born - a community-driven platform where artists took control of releasing their own music. Two original founding members, saxophonist Wendell Harrison and trombonist Phil Ranelin, are still active in the Detroit jazz community and act as global ambassadors for Tribe's legacy. In the years that followed, the path blazed by Tribe became a model for generations of independent artists. With Ranelin and Harrison's upcoming joint release on the Jazz Is Dead series, they continue Tribe's mission to provide "a new dimension in cultural awareness".
