'WOW! That's beautiful. Spectacular. Love it! What a Find.' Marty Riemer (Marty Riemer show/The Mountain KMTT) Dust & Gold is a collaboration between singer songwriter Rafe Pearlman & and producer guitar player Jonathan Plum. Colored by the sounds, textures and experiences of a lifetime of travel, from the Alaskan Bush to the Middle East, Rafe Pearlman's music is in a word inspiring. A study of contradictions and then some, his voice and music has been described as: eccentric, passionate, cerebral, gentle, poignant, earthy, and reflective. A growing interest in mysticism drove Rafe down new pathways, leading him through many bands, styles and lands - from world influenced trance and sacred music to pulsing ethereal brit rock to swampy raw soul blues - one thing has remained constant, his passion to explore new terrains in sound. Rafe was recently featured as a singer on America's Got Talent backing up 3rd place winner William Close and is soon to become the first male voice for the Sony video game Gods of War. Jonathan Plum is a platinum winning music producer and co-owner of London Bridge Studio, where he has been since the early 90's, working with such artists as Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Blind Melon, Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog and Brandi Carlile. Rafe and Jonathan were introduced my mutual friends who thought they might hit it off musically. Although Rafe couldn't afford to hire Jonathan, Jonathan himself fell in love with Rafe's voice and eventually asked him if he'd be open to collaborate on writing some music together. Their first efforts unfolded in the track 'Holiday' which lead them to the creation of the band Drive by Star. Years later after becoming the best of friends, they finally return to that magical collaboration with Dust & Gold. Dust & Gold is an exploration into the textural, etheric and soaring beauty of Rafe and Jonathan's soft, simple and honest writing. Jonathan's atmospheric guitar playing creates an atmospheric landscape for the gentler side of Rafe's voice to shine. The musicians they featured on the album with them are some of Seattle's finest, including Bill Patton who recently recorded with the Fleet Foxes among others...the smooth horn playing of Chris Littlefield...the list goes on....
