Lyapunov's Douze études d'exécution transcendante were meant as a complement to Liszt's Transcendental Études and dedicated to his memory. But more than an homage, they finish what Liszt had started. Russian virtuoso Konstantin Scherbakov brings these two great works together for the first time. Once a "Superstar for insiders" (Die Welt), Konstantin Scherbakov is today one of internationally renowned pianists who take a special place in the modern piano world. His creativity and immense contribution to the piano repertoire and recording catalogue are undisputed. "One of the most capable, daring and interesting musicians of these days" - Peter Cossé once described him. Konstantin Scherbakov is among the most ubiquitous and often-recorded pianists before the public today. The range of his repertory is vast and demanding, both technically and interpretively: he has recorded the complete solo piano outputs of Leopold Godowsky, Shostakovich and Ottorino Respighi; the complete piano/orchestral works of Medtner, Tchaikovsky, Respighi and Scriabin; he recorded and played in concerts other large projects including the complete F. Liszt piano transcriptions of the Beethoven symphonies.
