2017 repress of this 2013 remastered reissue; originally released in 1998. French musician and composer Yann Tiersen's 1998 third album, La Phare, yielded the single "Monochrome," a collaboration with French songwriter and vocalist Dominique A; "Monochrome" was a radio hit and propelled the album, and Tiersen, to mainstream success in France. As Tiersen's acclaim grew, so did the scope of his records. 1999's Black Session - a live album of a radio performance - featured collaborations with Dominique A and The Divine Comedy's Neil Hannon, as well bands like Têtes Raides and The Married Monk. Soon after, Jean-Pierre Jeunet asked Tiersen to score Jeunet's film Amélie, which would bring Tiersen international acclaim upon it's release in 2001.
