Genre: Jazz
This album captures the joyful spirit of my saxophone hero, Sidney Bechet. Known for his powerful sound and lyrical phrasing, his horn has a passion that a listener can't deny. When I sing and hum as I go about my day, I have realized that much of my inner musical language comes from his exuberant and flowing melody. This album captures all of my favorite grooves from the earliest jazz records of the 20s to the swing of the 50s. Vocalist Vanisha Gould showcases her depth of talent from the sassiest swing song on the album to the deepest ballad.
