Having composed some of the most recognisable themes in film history, Henry Mancini will always be remembered as one of the all-time greats in the field of soundtracks. Across a career that spanned six decades, Mancini received an astounding number of accolades for his work, including 20 Grammy Awards. Although he would enjoy consistent success throughout his lifetime, it was during the late 1950s and early 1960s, when Mancini began composing entire film scores independently, that he produced his most legendary work. Henry Mancini remained professionally active throughout the rest of his career, and in all he produced over 90 albums, both soundtracks and original music. He also performed at over 600 orchestral concerts. During his life he received 72 Grammy Award nominations, of which he won 20, and 17 Academy Award nominations, with four wins. Henry Mancini passed away on 14th June 1994, aged 70. This 4 x CD collection, totaling almost five hours of his finest soundtrack work from 1958 to 1963, contains nine complete Mancini records. In completion, this set perfectly demonstrates the huge talents of this master composer, as he almost single-handedly transformed the accepted role of what a movie score could achieve.
