Hi, my name is Ward Ellis. I'm a Christian singer/song writer. A few years back I was invited to perform some classical Christmas music in a very 'comfortable' home of one of the church members. It was to be a black tie formal affair. While preparing for the gig, I thought it would be fun to do something completely off the wall. As I thought, I began singing Jingle Bells in my head and in a very short period of time, 'Barefoot' was born. We all gathered in the parlor around the Steinway Grand. My accompanist ripped off an elaborate classical sounding intro. I stood erect and very opera-like and the audience looked on with sophisticated anticipation. I demonstrated a highly trained inhale and then broke into 'Barefoot in the Sand'. There was a few moments of 'deer in the headlights' stares and then the giggles began. It was a hit and the rest is history. The song describes how beach folks like to call up friends and family up north and boast about how nice the weather is in Florida while they're all freezing. It's clean, fun and so true. If you live where the breeze is warm, the water's clear and you love the feel of sand between your toes, get the song and send it to all your frozen friends. It's a hoot.
