Born from the tormented minds of Pilooski (producer for Tristesse Contemporaine and more recently for Perez, and whose edits for the Dirty house conjured the zeitgeist) and Pentile (also known for being part of Octet and France Copland), Discodeine was funded in 2007 by those two Frenchmen eager to resolve the equation between club music, Ennio Morricone, voodoo rites and an immoderate love for Mediterranean cooking. As a result, they released a handful of singles unanimously hailed by the cream of international DJs (Busy P, Simian Mobile Disco, Ivan Smagghe, Ewan Pearson, Erol Alkan, Chloé, Prins Thomas, Mickey Moonlight...), ecstatic remixes for Metronomy, Whomadewho, Mesparrow, Para One or Arnaud Rebotini, and a debut eponymous album driven by two hits, « Synchronize » featuring Jarvis Cocker and « Singular » with Matias Aguayo. They went on a world tour in 2011. The following year was spent working like hermits on their second album in a abbey turned studio. Discodeine is now back with a new album called Swimmer, which works as a bold manner to challenge God himself. Berber violins, psyche chants, dirty-minded beats, sacrified innocence : Discodeine doesn't need more fuel than that to feel their murderous instincts coming back. Swimmer is a killer.
