For the World is an articulate album, an elegant album, but foremost it is an honest album. Delicate piano, guitar, banjo and harp mix with Ed's harmonica and politely support his words as someone who can reflect on chances and choices by way of New York observations and imagined scenes. Ed's first album Ask the Unicorn was released 40+ years ago on the legendary ESP Disk' and quickly disappeared into Folk-Psych obscurity. Interest in Ed was heightened when an early 80s cassette was reissued/distributed by Drag City, and he embarked on his first US tour at the age of 71. For the World was produced by Jerry DeCicca (Black Swans, Larry Jon Wilson) and comes at no better time to introduce Ed to larger audiences. With special guests Mary Lattimore (Meg Baird, Thurston Moore) on harp, Marc Ribot on guitar, and backing vocals on three songs by super fan Sharon Van Etten.
