Y&T Music is proud to announce a limited-edition CD release of the debut album by Florida based singer-songwriter, Kiah. Co-produced with pop precision by Kiah, Fernando Perdomo and Ferny Coipel, Higher Window is a propulsive collection of songs both introspective ("How I Stay Out of Trouble," "You'll Find Out") and observational ("Just Say It," "One Thing"). Kiah plays guitar and keyboards and sings with quiet intensity and a unique kind of willing naivety. "I really write best between one and two in the morning," Kiah says. "That's when I'm really creative. For some reason, that's when my brain's really moving." Her earliest memories of singing are from childhood, annoying her brother by following him around the house, singing in a loud (and purposefully bad) opera voice. Kiah's turning point was a 1969 video of the Jackson Five singing "Who's Loving You?" on The Ed Sullivan Show. "It sounds like a really random thing, but that's when it hit me: 'That's what I want to do!' I learned keyboard at 13, I started writing at 15 - when I discovered the Beatles, that's when I discovered my love of writing." Eventually, her deep Christian faith kindled an identity crisis that evolved into a positive. The answer Kiah sought came when she first performed in church: "For the first time, I realized that no one was looking at me. It wasn't about me being interesting, or looking interesting onstage, or anyone thinking that I'm 'good' or whatever. I was creating this atmosphere for people to worship in. It wasn't about me. And it completely changed my trajectory."
