Digitally re-mastered and expanded edition of this classic soundtrack featuring all the memorable songs and incidental music from one of the most beloved films in history. Regarded now as one of the finest film musicals of all time, the initial reception to the Wizard of Oz in 1939 was almost lukewarm. The film did not go into profit until it was re-released in 1949 and it's reputation did not begin to soar until it began getting an annual showing on television in 1956. Songs such as 'Over the Rainbow', 'We're Off to See the Wizard' and 'Follow the Yellow Brick Road' have a timeless quality about them, even as stand alone songs; sat within the film soundtrack they are little short of works of art.
