EU-only two CD collection. Acker Bilk was part of the boom in traditional Jazz that swept the United Kingdom in the late 1950s. Features his hits "Summer Set", performed by his ensemble the Paramount Jazz Band, and "Stranger on the Shore" which went to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart making him the first British artist to have an American #1... making Acker an international star. Other great songs of note include his interpretation of "I Can't Get Started", "Higher Ground", "Carry Me Back", "Franklin Street Blues", and "Ory's Creole Trombone". Described as the Great Master of the Clarinet, Acker Bilk was, and still is just as important as American jazzmen like Benny Goodman or Artie Shaw. Truly, the glory that is Acker Bilk transcends all ages and all manner of music. Jasmine Records.
