Tomaso Giovanni Albinoni was a Venetian Baroque composer who was famous in his day as an opera composer, but is mainly remembered now for his instrumental music. Born to Antonio Albinoni, a wealthy paper merchant in Venice, Tomaso Albinoni studied violin and singing. At an early age he became proficient as a singer and, more notably, as a violinist, though not being a member of the performers' guild he was unable to play publicly so he turned his hand to composition. On this release, the ensemble I Solisti Ambrosiani presents six of his works- three instrumental pieces, and three pieces with voice. What's more, four of these works are receiving here their world premiere recording. I Solisti Ambrosiani is an Italian ensemble specializing in ancient repertoire and in philological execution on original instruments. The group was founded in 2008 by Tullia Pedersoli (soprano) and Davide Belosio (violinist). The group finds it's own style both in the temperament of the individual instruments and in a flexible instrumentation- from duo to chamber orchestra.
