Augie Meyers doesn't seem to get old. He says he is like steel-he can get a little rusty but he's still strong. Simple words from a man who has let an album escape every year for the last decade. He still tours with the Texas Tornados with his old partner's son Shawn (father Doug Sahm and Augie made albums together from the 60s through the end of the 90s when he passed). This time around, Monkeys on Cocaine finds him teaming up with guitarist/producer Frank Carillo (Doc Holliday band) with some more South Texas rock and roll (and a fine Leadbelly cover tune). Often imitated; never duplicated-Augie Meyers is a legend.
