It is a universal music that is entirely at the service of a higher power: Bach's music is worship. With this basic attitude, Konstanze Eickhorst dedicates her new GENUIN recording to a hand-picked selection of Bach's piano works. It shows a broad spectrum of Bach's music, from the positive, forceful F major of the Italian Concerto to the two partitas - the delicate one in B-flat major and the playful one in G major - to the D minor of the Chromatic Fantasy and Fugue. Konstanze Eickhorst's career also began with Bach: she won a prize at the Toronto Bach Competition. Today, as a professor at the University of Music in Lübeck and as a juror at international competitions, she comes into contact with Bach's music again and again, which is full of joie de vivre, but also full of sorrow and sadness, though always paired with comfort and hope.
