Recorded live in concert with Sinfonietta Riga on April 11, 2014 at the Great Guild Hall in Riga, Latvia, this release confirms Thomas Gould's reputation as one of the most inventive and colorful instrumentalists of his generation. A musician who refuses to be defined by a single genre, Gould has developed impressive jazz credentials, but it is as a soloist/director of classical repertoire where he really excels. This album features Beethoven's Violin Concerto and Vaughan Williams's The Lark Ascending, two cornerstones of the violin repertoire. Gould's versions demonstrate a brilliance of tone and color that demands attention. His playing has the clarity you would expect but radiates a freedom in it's expression as though improvised with an immediate elegance and poise.
Tracks:
1.1 Allegro Ma Non Troppo
1.2 Larghetto
1.3 Rondo (Allegro)
1.4 The Lark Ascending
