Genre: Jazz
Bud Shank is among the senior practitioners of the horn and he just seems to get better and better with the years. The man from Ohio who became a leader of West Coast Jazz has done most of his prolific list of recordings in California. However, following Bud's splendid quartet set, the Doctor is in (CND 79520), it was time Shank made a session with a hip New York rhythm section. Bud is in excellent form, tipping his hat to bop old masters here, grunting and scurrying there, digging deeply into harmonies, melodies and rhythms and swinging everywhere. Featuring: Kenny Barron (piano), Bud Shank (alto saxophone), Lonnie Plaxico (bass) and Victor Lewis (drums).
