Baritone Dominique Côté conceived of the album Amour et Fantaisie: mélodies de Lionel Daunais as a portrait that pays homage toa unique artist in the Canadian musical landscape. Daunais was celebrated as a writer, composer, author, performer, artistic director, and radio host. His catchy music is influenced by French melodies and songs, sometimes with a jazzy edge. A man of the theatre, Daunais managed to create entire characters and scenarios within the space of a song. Baritone Dominique Côtéis renowned for his supple voice and moving interpretations. Armed with a vast and varied repertoire, Côté has performed across Europe, the United States, and Canada under the direction of illustrious conductors such as Kent Nagano, Christophe Rousset, Theodor Guschlbauer, Jacques Lacombe, and Samuel Jean. His performances include Les feluettes ou La répétition d'un drame romantique (Edmonton Opera), and La chauve-souris (Geneva and Montreal), as well as appearances in several productions of the opera Nelligan, and numerous concerts with the Orchestre Symphonique de Montreal. Esther Gonthier enjoys a vibrant career on the Quebec vocal music scene. As a rehearsal pianist, vocal coach or assistant conductor, she works regularly with the Opéra de Montréal, the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal and the Orchestre Métropolitain.
