A gifted Dixieland jazz cornetist, Paul Wesley "Doc" Evans started out in the Midwest and eventually started his own bands in Chicago in the 1940's. He recorded extensively for the Audiophile label beginning in the late 1940's through the late 1950's. Presented here is Doc's classic 1959 album "Doc + 4 = Dixie," featuring Doc's cornet backed by a rhythm section consisting of Biddy Bastian (bass); Red Maddock (drums); Knocky Parker (piano) with guest artist Don Anderson who adds his guitar on "Tea For Two. All selections have been newly remastered.
