Plying the choppy sonic waves between the best aspects of the insurgent country ghetto and the vaunted Chicago noise guitar scene is the gritty sophomore outing by Chicago's Dollar Store. Fronted by Waco Brother Dean "Deano" Schlabowske, Dollar Store takes rootsy chord progressions and slathers them with textures, volume and loose, angular noise to make them thick and heavy in the finest indie rock and roll sense. If their debut album was described as a slab of greasy roots rock, MONEY MUSIC should be labeled "extra greasy". The album was recorded in two days and sounds like what the sessions were - four guys, thoroughly enjoying themselves, pushing tempos and volume levels along the way.
