Even if the young Rossini was nicknamed "il tedeschino" ("the little German"), these six sonatas, composed in three days, at the age of twelve, are only very very loosely inspired to Haydn or Mozart. In 1804, Rossini had not yet received a formal music education, therefore these fresh works can be considered the instinctive production of a precocious genius.
