A dream brought to life through the deep friendship uniting Mareva Galanter and Helena Noguerra, who listened to the former tell her of her "old" life on the out-of-this-world paradise of Tahiti. The result are tailormade songs by Noguerra, offering up enchantingly poetic and softly evocative lyrics like so many fallen stars, upon which instrumentalist and songwriter Philippe Eveno composed the elegant, featherlight melodies. He then produced the album, as a kind of postcard inviting the listener to go on a journey. The project was generated by Marc Collin, in a long line of daring productions wherein cultures clash into - and subvert - each other. With this latest album, Mareva Galanter takes us on a trip through her Tahitian origins, prompting a meeting between the Parisian she has become and the Polynesian she never stopped being, invoking her home region's vibrant sounds: percussions (Toe're),intergenerational choirs (Himene), ancestral nose flute (Vivo)... Traditional sounds, so dear to Mareva, that are here highlighted in their most authentic form.Through it's 12 tracks, "Paris - Tahiti" is the artist's most personal full-length outing. A musical odyssey recorded in Paris and Tahiti, the album subtly blends traditional sounds with French pop, the modernity of the production espousing the immortality of tradition. This curiously beguiling album is a fresh new meeting of the cultures: the guitars, bass, drums, keyboards and vocals were recorded at Paris' Alphaville Studio by Hugo Bracchi, while the ukuleles, percussion, drums, nose flute and traditional choirs were recorded in Tahiti's AMSP studio by Jean-Luc Casula, using wood and bamboo instruments entirely handmade by the musicians themselves.
