La Symphonie Fantastique, Overture des Francs-Juges - Hector Berlioz - Les Siècles, François-Xavier Roth direction - Crystallizing the multiple influences and themes dear to the first romantic movement of the 1820s, the Fantastic Symphony turned the rules of the classical symphony to satisfy Berlioz's intentions. This new reading by the ensemble Les Siècles is based on an in-depth study of the autograph score and benefits from an intimate familiarity with period instruments, including the bell of the church in the birthplace of Berlioz La-Côte Saint-André... La Sinfonia Fantastica includes some passages from a youthful work, Les Francs-Juges, of which only the overture has come, work that the director François-Xavier Roth deems worthy to complement the most famous symphonic works of Berlioz.
