An obscure early 1960s crooner, Ray Lourde had an impressive voice and recorded some interesting music that was a bit out of the ordinary. On the Calo Records offering presented here, Ray croons the popular standard "Wonderful One" - a classic ballad that has been sung by the likes of Mel Torme, Tony Bennett, Della Reese, Jerry Vale and many others. Ray's version adds a bit of exotica to the mix with the addition of an uncredited female voice who sounds like she's singing from the great beyond, floating above the mix like a ghost. The flip side, "Win Or Lose," retains the same strategy with the disembodied female voice floating above the ether. Highly original and unusual to say the least, this little gem is sure to appeal to the 60s bachelor pad fan or even the pop psyche aficionado. The obscure 45 RPM single, "Wonderful One" b/w "Win Or Lose," is presented here newly remastered and finally made available in the digital domain.
