Mark Van Hoen is one of electronic music's great veteran auteurs, respected the world over for his work on iconic labels like R&S, Touch and 4AD, both under his own name and as Locust, and his work with Warp artist Seefeel. 'Where Is the Truth' is a stellar, assured return - an album full of carefully manicured, experimental song-based environments and artful electronic arrangements Atmospheric, mood-altering rhythmic grooves, cinematic post-trip-hop textures, filtered soulful electronic shuffles, and coarse beats with quivering old tape samples... all underpinning excellent abstract song-writing. Special guests include Neil Halstead (Slowdive/Mojave 3) on electric guitar and Julia Frodahl (Edison Woods) on piano. This is an excellent addition to his fine body of work.
