Title: What It Means to Be Left-Handed

Genre: Alternative Rock

Formed by the multi-tasking Adam Pierce in the late 90's, Mice Parade was originally a solo project that saw Pierce writing each individual instrumental track as he recorded. The band now encompasses a globally-scattered handful of collaborators, playing alongside guest contributors and musical allies hand-picked by Pierce. What It Means to Be Left-Handed was mostly recorded at Adam's home studio in upstate New York, a cozy place at the edge of a forest which over the last two years has also served ANIMAL COLLECTIVE, FRIGHTENED RABBIT, TOM BROSSEAU and many others in various capacities. Peter Katis (THE NATIONAL) mixed in Between Times and Even, and Jeremy Backofen (FELICE BROTHERS) engineered and assisted Pierce in mixing the rest. Coloured by splashes of West African Highlife, Flamenco, Brazillian Jazz, even 80's US indie-rock, What It Means to Be Left-Handed is as distinctive and idiosyncratic as the band's previous records. It may consist of a collection of individual assets, but it's identity is held together by extraordinary musicianship, by it's faithful and enthusiastic acknowledgment of a "music existing for music's sake" philosophy, and by it's rich, home-produced.
