Harry Frankel, known as Singin' Sam, began his singing career back in 1908 in minstrels and later in vaudeville. By 1930 he launched a career in radio and soon became one of this media's best loved crooners for the next 25 years. His first success as a radio personality began in 1931 when he took on the name "Singin' Sam The Barbasol Man." Sam continued as one of the nation's favorite baritones until his retirement in 1948. Most remarkable was Sam's mastery of American popular songs over the years. This collection features favorites that cover a 50-year period starting with Bicycle Built For Two from 1892 to I Don't Want To Walk Without You, a hit from 1942. All selections included on this CD are taken from two radio series recorded from 1937 to 1945.
