Stereolab's album Switched On. Remastered edition of a compilation of Stereolab's first three singles, first issued in 1992. This is the most essential Stereolab album as it contains all the early and classic singles which would set you back an arm and a leg on Discogs. Lead by Laetitia Sadier's coolly sophisticated, Nico-meets-Francoise hardy vocals, Switched On is more guitar-driven and rock-oriented than the bands later work, and tracks like Super-Electric and Au Grand Jour prove that Stereolab's basic style - Krautrock lock-grooves, bubbling analog synths, fuzzed out guitars and angelic vocals - manages to be poppy, kinetick, and bittersweet all at once. Includes download card.
