One of the world's most accomplished Jewish vocalists, Svetlana Portyansky began her studies at Moscow Music Conservatory, sharpening her cantorial skills at New York's Jewish Theological Seminary. As a leading performer with a successful radio and television career, her interest in Jewish music increased as she toured across the former Soviet Union. Today, with a repertoire including Yiddish, Russian, Hebrew and international music, she gives concerts in Israel, North America, and throughout the world, awakening audiences to their Jewish identity. She has appeared with internationally famed Jewish artists such as Debbie Friedman, Mike Burstyn and Dudu Fisher, and serves as cantor at Temple Isaiah in Los Angeles.
