Without a doubt, one of the major hit songs of the 20th Century - featuring the most popular recordings and appearing on one set for the first time. The Patti Page recording issued by the newly-formed Mercury Records alone sold more than ten million copies and is still selling! Pee Wee King wrote and recorded his monster hit, placing it on both pop and country charts! Major selling hit records were quickly issued by Jo Stafford, Guy Lombardo, Les Paul & Mary Ford, The Fontane Sisters, jazz great Anita O'Day, as well as a hilarious disc by Spike Jones and His City Slickers! Country hit singles were recorded by the great Roy Acuff, Cowboy Copas, and Jimmie and Leon Short, and revival versions on LP by the legendary Kitty Wells, Eddy Arnold, and Webb Pierce. Within a short period of time lush arrangements appeared by Sammy Kaye, Percy Faith, Billy Vaughn, The Ames Brothers, Don Robertson. A "live" version is featured by Bing Crosby & The Andrews Sisters. The Big Sounds of Jerry Fuller, Sam Cooke, Lloyd Price, Bobby Comstock, Damita Jo, and David Rose brought about a more contemporary sound in the later '50s and early '60s. The hit song quickly became such a major attraction with Tennessean's that it was made one of the State songs by the state legislature!
