Teodross Avery is a saxophonist of the highest level and his focus and musical output have returned. For the past twenty years, he has assisted multi-platinum selling artists and those of high critical acclaim as they have made their marks on the domestic and international scenes. Now, it's his turn! Here on "Post Modern Trap Music", Avery enlists drum master Marvin "Bugalu" Smith, who has played with the likes of Archie Shepp, Sun Ra, Chet Baker, and many more, for an exploration in sax/drum duos. While in the spirit of the duo albums of the 60's and 70's, such as Coltrane / Rashied Ali and Frank Lowe / Rashied Ali, Avery adds his own stamp on the deep jazz format. He teeters on the edge of modern and free jazz. Here, the improvisations are in the momentand his compositions leave musical impressions that linger on after the CD is over.
