Fame Records was an off shoot of the renowned Fame Studio, and this special vinyl-only compilation looks at the very best of the label's work during it's first four years. Helmed by owner Rick Hall, aided and abetted by his team who included Dan Penn, Spooner Oldham and the Swampers house band, this LP collects together some of the very finest music from the birth of southern soul. The LP features hits by Clarence Carter and Jimmy Hughes, Northern soul classics from James Barnett and Art Freeman, recordings by Dan Penn and Spooner Oldham as well as a plethora of cuts appearing on vinyl for the very first time.
