Brothers Javier and Luis Garayalde, from Iruña/Pamplona in Navarre, Spain, form Wagon Cookin'. Their father, sax player Javier Garayalde, made sure they got a solid classical education in music, sending them to the conservatory to study piano, banjo, double bass, bassoon, drums and percussion. They played in several Jazz bands in the 1990s and became interested in electronic music, acid jazz and house. They played at Popkomm in Cologne, Germany, and at the Midem Fair in Cannes, France, in 2002. They also shared the stage with Eddie Palmieri, Azymuth, Marcos Valle and Chic Korea over four consecutive nights at the Blue Note in Tokyo. That year saw the release of their first album, Appetizers. In 2003 they started work on their album, Wagon Cookin' - Assorted Cooking, in which they included material previously released on different labels, along with two new recordings. They moved to Brazil, and settled in Salvador de Bahia, where they formed the group Everyday Life with local musicians, imbibing their musical styles to form their own style, a mixture of jazz, bossa nova, break-beat and house. They also started doing live DJ sessions and mixing their production. They presented their latest album, Wagon Cookin' - Sunny Side Up in Japan in 2006 and are currently preparing a new album, from which they have released a 12" preview, presented at Sonar, Barcelona, this summer.
